The fundamental purpose of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is to cultivate an appreciation of and commitment to the ideals of friendship, justice and learning. These ideals and objectives have been at the heart of Sigma Chi since its founding by seven men at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, on June 28, 1855. These seven men believed that the principles they professed were imperfectly realized in other fraternal organizations. Although this vision of Sigma Chi was based upon the notion of shared ideals, the believed that true brotherhood would thrive best among men of different temperaments, talents and convictions. Our guiding principles, unchanged for almost 150 years, continue to define the essence of Sigma Chi. |

“What you do in life by yourself doesn’t mean as much as what you accomplish with a group of people. Sigma Chi was one of the greatest things that happened to me. I really appreciate what it has done for me in my lifetime, and I hope I can continue to give something back.” –Mike Ditka (Head Coach of the Chicago Bears) “You have to be honest, have integrity, be able to cooperate and get along with other people. Sigma Chi is a great place to learn that and that’s why it’s a great thing to join this fraternity.” –Jim Palmer (ABC sportscaster, Hall of Fame Pitcher)

About The Rush ProgramRush consists of four weeks of social activities, during which we hope to meet and find out as much as we can about you. Likewise, it is your opportunity, as a rushee, to discover as much as you can about the various fraternities on campus. It is a time to evaluate and determine which organizations best suit your temperaments, talents, and convictions, and to find the group with whom you feel the most comfortable. Our Rush is a dry-rush, meaning that there is no alcohol allowed at any of our rush events. We believe that this provides a better opportunity for conversation and friendship than would otherwise be possible. |
